Stamford, CT - Jewish Family Service of Stamford, New Canaan, Darien, Westport, Weston, Wilton and Norwalk has partnered with the Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation who will divide $1 million among nonprofit hunger fighting agencies nationwide to help raise funds and donations for the Kosher Food Pantry from March 1st to April 30, 2013.
To qualify for a portion of the funds, JFS is notifying the community of this opportunity and that the more donations made to the food pantry – during these two months– the larger the share of the money JFS will receive! Many non-profit agencies in past years have increased their donations two or three fold their usual returns at this time of the year by participating in the generous challenge from the Feinstein Foundation.
The JFS Kosher Food Pantry, serves over 200 families in the Stamford area, at any given time. At present, the food pantry specifically needs grocery cards, gas cards and pharmacy cards. A donation ensures that Kosher Food Pantry recipients receive the sustenance, i.e. fresh foods, vital medications, etc. that they would otherwise not be able to afford.
The JFS Kosher Food Pantry will also accept food donations for Passover. Every kosher item is welcome but the most requested items for Passover are: matzah, gefilte fish, horseradish, macaroons, grape juice and fruit juices, soup mixes, canned and jarred food items (fruits, vegetables, soups).
JFS will be accepting donations at the Stamford office Monday to Friday, 9am – 4pm by appointment. To contact the JFS Kosher Food Pantry to arrange to deliver donations, please contact Rita Halpert or Rebekah Kanefsky at 203-921-4161; or email at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
If you would like to receive assistance from the Kosher Food Pantry, please contact Rita Halpert at 203-921-4161 ext. 118 to arrange for an appointment. All requests for services are kept strictly confidential.
