Greenwich, CT - Kevin Plancher, MD, founder and Chairman of the Board of the Orthopaedic Foundation, is the third recipient of the Becker Salon Leadership Award. The salon, located at 268 Mason Street in Greenwich, established the Leadership Award to honor outstanding leaders in the community who are making a difference.

The Becker Salon Leadership Award is given to top leaders, male or female, of 501c3 nonprofit organizations of any size in Fairfield and Westchester counties. Leaders are chosen who are successfully fulfilling a mission and who demonstrate passion and commitment to a cause.

“We’re happy to continue our leadership awards program and recognize those who do so much to make our communities better,” said Becker Chicaiza, owner. “We believe it’s important to say thank you to those leaders who do not always receive recognition for their efforts.” Award winners receive a complimentary appointment at Becker Salon, a plaque and a donation to their charity.

Kevin Plancher, MD, MS, FACS, FAAOS, is a leading orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine expert with offices in Greenwich, Conn. and Manhattan. He founded the Orthopaedic Foundation, www.ofals.org, a not-for-profit foundation whose principal mission is to promote, support, develop and encourage research and education concerning orthopaedic care and advancements in technologies and treatment of arthritis, orthopaedic injuries and musculoskeletal diseases. The Orthopaedic Foundation is committed to initiatives that educate individuals of all ages about a healthy and active lifestyle and works closely with local schools to provide educational programs and grants for after school physical activities. This past November, the Orthopaedic Foundation held its 9th Anniversary Gala in Manhattan.

Previously, the salon awarded Shari Shapiro, executive director of Kids in Crisis, and Lucy Day, a founding member and former president of the Breast Cancer Alliance. The salon enables clients to cast a vote for their choice of leaders through its website, www.BeckerSalon.com. Chicaiza and Deborah Elam of GE assist in the final selection.

Named one of the five top salons in Greenwich by Beauty & Style Magazine, Becker Salon has developed a large following in the region. Chicaiza and his staff carefully adhere to their mission, which is to highlight the beauty of everyone who enters the salon with the magic touch of their hands.
