To raise awareness and dollars for the critical substance abuse and addiction rehabilitation services it has provided in the Greater Danbury region over the past 38 years, the Midwestern Connecticut Council on Alcoholism (MCCA) will host its 17th annual benefit dinner and awards program on February 18, 5:30 to 9 p.m. at The Amber Room in Danbury.

Longtime supporter Union Savings Bank, which has provided significant funding to the organization over the past 17 years, has contributed $5,000 as a Diamond sponsor of the event.

After a keynote presentation by U.S. Congressman Chris Murphy (CT-5), MCCA will present its “Man of the Year” award to Tom Kirk, recently retired commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, for his ongoing commitment to substance abuse prevention and addiction treatment.

“Support from both companies and foundations is essential to those who desperately need MCCA programs to help them conquer their addiction,” said MCCA President Joe Sullivan. “Union Savings Bank’s long-term commitment — which recently included funding for our Sobering Center and host sponsorship for our annual golf tournament — has stimulated contributions from other companies and organizations that have helped us purchase equipment, renovate our buildings and grounds and upgrade our technology. Finally, the significant expertise that Union Savings Bank employees bring to MCCA as board volunteers have been an important contribution to our success over the years.”

“MCCA has and will continue to provide those in our region who are struggling with their addiction a pathway to recovery and hope for the future,” said Union Savings Bank President and CEO John C. Kline. “Union Savings Bank is proud to play a role to ensure that these critical programs will continue to be available.”

Limited tickets are still available for the February 18 MCCA dinner. Tickets are $50 per person; limited sponsorship opportunities remain in Friend, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Emerald categories. For availability and reservations, call Helen Tannheimer at 203.792.4541, ext. 1102 or Email hope@mccaonline.com.
