Ring's End Lumber will kick off the second year of its free “Morning for Moms” seminar series from 10:30 a.m. – noon on Tuesday, September 14, in the Wilton store at 129 Danbury Road. Each month, Color Consultant Rita T will share decorating tips for making living spaces family-friendly, along with today’s trending colors for homes. Guest speakers will discuss parenting topics, featuring a different theme each month. Attendees will receive a coupon for a free gallon of Benjamin Moore’s new, zero-VOC paint. Limited seating is available; parents are encouraged to pre-register each month by sending an email to jean_galloway@ringsend.com.

The fall schedule of speakers opens on September 14 with Michelle Sperry, founder of Fleur de Lis Academy in Wilton, who will talk about ways to teach children good manners and etiquette. Rita T will speak about creative decorating in the dining room.

On October 12, environmentalist Jeff Cordulack of Greenwich Audubon will speak about exploring the outdoors with children, safe outdoor practices, and how to reduce exposure to toxins in their lives. Rita T will discuss ways to bring nature’s colors and patterns indoors.

On November 9, Carolyn White, former owner of Dandy Tales children’s bookstore in New Canaan, will discuss reading to and with children, highlighting the best in children’s literature, along with her thoughts on working with children who have learning disabilities. Rita T will talk about creating a reading space for children and how to encourage accountability for upkeep in their space.

On December 7, Consumer Reports child products’ author Sandra Gordon will speak about holiday safety, including tips for decorating and which toys are safe to purchase. Rita T will cover ideas for decorating and sharing during the holidays.

Rita T, a former elementary school teacher who is widely recognized by her trademark hat, has more than forty years experience in the design world, spanning product development, interior design and color consulting. Her practical approach to decorating encourages families to recycle furnishings and add pieces, using color as the catalyst to create harmonious and useable space as rooms evolve. Focusing primarily on color for the past ten years, she creates an annual “colors for your life” palette based on current trends and personalized for her clients.

“Using color beautifully has become so much easier and safer since Benjamin Moore launched their new Natura Paint; it’s the only zero-VOC paint on the market that is available in virtually limitless colors, since it uses a patented waterborne colorant system that is VOC-free. For families, knowing their children and pets won’t be exposed to potentially harmful toxic fumes and the room can be used right away is a real plus,” she said.

Rita T is at the Ring's End Paint Center in Wilton from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturdays; in-store color consultations are complimentary. She can also be engaged as an independent color consultant to visit clients’ homes and help them create a custom color palette for individual or multiple rooms or a home’s exterior.
