More sun, less rain and a lot of fun this Independence Day weekend

The wacky weather in our area continues this holiday weekend, albeit with the promise to be much better than what we’ve been getting for the last two months.

While Friday’s forecast calls for overcast skies, Saturday - Independence Day – and Sunday are projected to be party sunny and sunny, respectively, however, a few afternoon thunderstorms both days may pop up in some areas.

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection reports all but one state park beaches will be open this weekend. The beach at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth, CT, will be closed.

According to DEP, local health department are responsible for sampling municipal and local beaches and swimming areas. Contact each individual local public health agency for information on the status of the beach of your interest.
