STAMFORD, CT - First County Bank recently announced that Mary Franco, President of the Norwalk Hospital Foundation and Vice President of Public Affairs at Norwalk Hospital, has been named to First County Bank’s board of directors. She was officially appointed to the board effective February 1, 2013.

“Mary Franco brings substantial community and regional knowledge and expertise to our board. Her experience in the business sector coupled with her leadership in the community makes her an outstanding addition to our organization,” said Reyno Giallongo, Chairman and CEO of First County Bank.

In addition to her election to the board, Franco has been a corporator at First County Bank since June, 2007. Franco, a New Canaan resident, has been with Norwalk Hospital since 2006 and leads the hospital’s fundraising efforts as well as government relations and community strategy. Prior to her role at Norwalk Hospital, she was with General Electric for almost 10 years, serving finally as vice president of corporate citizenship for GE Consumer Finance. Prior to joining GE, Franco held leadership positions with the University of Connecticut, where she played a key role in the creation of the university’s Stamford campus, and with the National Spinal Cord Injury Foundation and the Vermont Law School.

She is a member of the board of the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Leadership Council of the Regional Alliance to Prevent and End Homelessness. She is also a trustee of her alma mater, Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. Franco was a member of former Connecticut Governor Rell’s Early Childhood Research and Policy Council and has been a board member of the United Way of Norwalk and Wilton and Stamford.
