Olaf Soot to present "Far North"

Adventure traveler and photographer Olaf Soot will make an audio-visual presentation entitled “Far North” to the Appalachian Mountain Club on Wednesday, September 22 in Westport.

The presentation will be at Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road East, Westport. Wine and cheese from 6.15 pm, dinner at 7.00 pm. and presentation at 8.00 pm. AMC members and non-members are welcome to attend. The cost is $8 for members and $15 for non-members. Participants are asked to bring along a dessert to share if they can. No reservations. Greenwich based Olaf Soot will share stunning photographs and fascinating stories from his travels in the “Far North” including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska and the Brooks Mountain Range.

Olaf, a member of the Explorers Club and the American Alpine Club, is a renowned climber and wilderness photographer. His climbing career began in the Bavarian Alps. His photographs have covered people, wildlife, landscapes and mountains, including those taken on an 8,000 mile odyssey from Point Barrow in Alaska to Cape Horn, the southern tip of Patagonia. Olaf’s films have won prestigious international awards and have appeared on television.
