A necklace was provided with purchase of a children’s book entitled, “The Magical Ballet Slippers,” also known as “Ballerina’s Magical Shoes. UPC codes for the recalled items are located on the back of the book: UPC #9781405411448, ISBN # 1405411449. French version, “Les petits chaussons magiques”, UPC # 9781405449526, ISBN # 1405449527. Spanish version, “Las zapatillas magicas de la bailarina” UPC # 9781405448383, ISBN # 1405448385. The necklace is silver in color with silver-colored ballet shoes and a bow as a charm. This product was sold nationwide at a variety of retail establishments and independent bookstores from January 2003 to June 2008 for approximately $7.00. Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr. strongly recommends that parents check their children’s jewelry for this product, and if found, immediately remove from their possession and contact Parragon for instructions on returning this item for a free replacement book. Although no injuries have been reported, the potential for lead exposure is high.
