Patriot National Bank has once again demonstrated they are a bank founded ‘for and by the people’ by taking members of the Disabled American Veterans, CT Division (DAV) out to the ballgame at HarborYards on Saturday, July 26th. At Patriot’s 2nd Annual Salute to America day at the stadium, President and Chief Executive Officer Charles F. Howell presented the DAV with a check for $10,000. Throughout the year, Patriot employees and customers have been depositing change in canisters specifically earmarked for the vets. Howell noted that, “Patriot people are as dedicated to their community as we are to helping safeguard and grow your hard-earned money.” Albert E. Church, Executive Director of the DAV, and a Vietnam-era Vet, accepted the check while Vietnam Veteran Richard Pescatore started the game rolling by throwing the first pitch.

Howell’s opening remarks paid tribute to the DAV, praising this 80-year old non-profit organization,
“for working to build better lives for America’s disabled veterans and their families. According to Howell, the “DAV has been a voice for these veterans; championing their cause on Capitol Hill, advocating for service programs, transportation needs and rehabilitation opportunities.” Howell then asked the audience to join him in saluting “these courageous Americans.”

Joining the forty veterans of war in attendance were players from the Patriot-sponsored Fairfield National Little League team as well as over two-hundred Patriot employees, their family members and friends. Patriot is a proud sponsor of the Bluefish in their eleventh season. The Bluefish went on to trounce the Camden Riversharks 9-3 and everyone then enjoyed the post-game fireworks also sponsored by Patriot.

Patriot National Bank is one of the fastest growing banks in the Northeast, with a mission to offer a significant community-based alternative to larger banks and to provide personalized service to consumers and local businesses. Nationally chartered in 1994, Patriot National Bank currently has nineteen full-service branches. Patriot National Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Market “PNBK”), the parent of Patriot National Bank had total assets of $866 million as of March 31, 2008.
