The Connecticut Department of Transportation's Office of Engineering is currently developing plans for the pavement preservation of Interstate 91 in the City of New Haven and the Town of North Haven. This project is currently scheduled to begin construction in Summer 2012.

It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development. It is not anticipated that an informational meeting or a formal public hearing will be held for this project due to the limited nature of the proposed work.

This project proposes to place 5/8-inch of Ultra-Thin Bonded Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement (Type B) overlay on Interstate 91. The northbound project limits begin at approximately mile marker 2.76 (north of Route 17 overpass, Bridge #3096) in the City of New Haven and extends 2.00 miles to mile marker 4.76 (north of Montowese Avenue overpass, Bridge #3100) in the Town of North Haven. The southbound project limits begin at approximately mile marker 2.83 (north of Route 17 overpass, Bridge #3096) in the City of New Haven and extends 2.01 miles to mile marker 4.84 (north of Montowese Avenue overpass, Bridge #3101) in the Town of North Haven.

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in February, 2012, with construction anticipated to start in Summer, 2012. This project will be undertaken with 80% Federal and 20% State funds.

Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Timothy M. Wilson, Manager of Highway Design, at (860) 594-3189, or by email at Timothy.Wilson@ct.gov. Please make reference to State Project Number 0092-0658.
