Product Safety Inspectors from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection are conducting recall effectiveness checks on retail establishments in response to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s voluntary recall of “Phil & Teds e3 Single Buggy, e3 Twin Buggy and sport v1 Single Buggy Strollers (425 e3 Twin Buggy Strollers were previously recalled in May of 2006), due to a laceration hazard which may occur to the user when folding and unfolding the strollers. It is the hinge locking mechanism which poses the hazard. This product was manufactured in China and imported by Regal Lager Inc., of Kennesaw, Georgia.

The recalled strollers were sold in a variety of colors, such as navy, black, red, orange, green and charcoal and have the Phil & Teds logo on the crotch piece of the harness. The single strollers have metal frames, a cloth seat and canopy with three wheels. The twin strollers have metal frames, side-by-side cloth seats and double canopies with four wheels.

This product was sold nationwide in baby furniture and baby products stores from August 2003 to August 2008 for approximately $400.00 and $650.00.

Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr., strongly recommends parents check their children’s strollers and if this recalled product is found, immediately cease using and contact Regal Lager, to receive a free hinge cover repair kit and instructions. Numerous injuries have been reported to Regal Legal. For additional information, please contact Regal Lager toll free at (877) 242-5676, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET, or visit their website at www.regallager.com .
