House Majority Leader Joe Aresimowicz (D-Berlin/Southington) announced on Monday his appointment of State Representative Doug McCrory (D-Hartford) as Deputy Majority Leader.

“I’m very pleased that Doug accepted this leadership role,” said Aresimowicz. “As a teacher, he brings an expertise in education issues at a time when it’s particularly needed and his strong leadership skills will be an instant asset to the team.”

The Deputy Majority Leader is responsible for assisting the Majority Leader with the development of policy, reviewing critical legislation, and developing the majority party’s agenda.

"I am honored to serve in this leadership position, and I thank Majority Leader Aresimowicz for the appointment," said McCrory. "This new position increases my ability to fight for, and advocate on behalf of, Hartford residents."

In addition to his leadership responsibilities, McCrory will continue serving as a member of the Education, Appropriations, Higher Education and Employment Advancement committees during this legislative session.
