Scott Burton, a cancer survivor, award-winning comic, world champion juggler, and author of the book “A Life in the Balance” is the featured guest speaker at the 11th Annual National Cancer Survivors Day® event on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury.

The annual program, hosted by the Community Cancer Collaborative, a team of non-profit organizations that includes The Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital, Ann’s Place, The Home of I CAN, and the American Cancer Society, takes place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The Ethan Allen Hotel is located at 21 Lake Avenue in Danbury-Exit 4, off I-84.

Mr. Burton, who has worked with Jay Leno and Louie Anderson, shows the effectiveness of humor in the cancer battle. According to Burton, laughter, passion and expressing humanity are tools to empower survivors (and medical professionals), which can open the door to not only healing, but also loving life.

Mr. Burton was diagnosed with a high-grade osteo sarcoma in 1992, and blends his worlds of comedy, juggling and an uplifting cancer story to provide a potent, needful message combined with nationally recognized entertainment. Author of “A Life in the Balance”, a funny, inspirational book on cancer survivorship, he also has authored numerous articles about cancer survivorship. Mr. Burton was selected as a contributing writer to the next printing of Chicken Soup for the Surviving Soul.

Join us for a morning that celebrates you! Enjoy breakfast, friends and this year’s featured guest speaker Scott Burton.
Seating is limited to a cancer survivor and one guest. RSVP no later than May 26, 2008 by calling Ann’s Place, The Home of I CAN at (203) 790-6568, Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
