STAMFORD, CT - The 18th annual UBS Parade Spectacular presented by Stamford Town Center and The Advocate will kick off on Saturday with the Balloon Inflation Party sponsored by SAC Capital Advisors, LP on Saturday, November 19th from 3 – 6 p.m. at Hoyt Street and Summer Street.
This pre-parade party is fun for the entire family! Watch the parade’s 21 giant helium balloons come to life while enjoying live music, performances by parade talent, and visits from costumed characters. Get an up close look of the Flippenout extreme trampoline act. Fippenout performers include Olympic medalists and hopefuls who will soar 25 feet in the air! Kids of all ages will enjoy a pre-parade visit from Santa.
The UBS Parade Spectacular presented by Stamford Town Center and The Advocate will step-off on Sunday, November 20th at 12 Noon at the Hoyt Street intersection on Summer Street and conclude on Atlantic Street at Federal Street. Hosted by Stamford Downtown Special Services District the annual parade is one of the largest of its kind in the country. This marks the sixth consecutive year that UBS has served as the title sponsor for the event, now in its 18th year.
Stamford Downtown is pleased to welcome this year’s Grand Marshals Laura Linney, John Benjamin Hickey and Gabourey Sidibe of The Big C on Showtime. Late Show with David Letterman personality Alan Kalter will return for the eighth year as the parade’s Master of Ceremonies at the grand stand. The parade will feature giant helium balloons, accomplished marching bands, fabulous floats and hundreds of volunteers.
Spectators should expect lots of high-flying excitement! Stamford Downtown is excited to welcome four new balloons – Hagar the Horrible, Smurfette, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and a highflying airplane will take to the sky for the very first time to dazzle Stamford spectators. Returning favorites include: Bob the Builder, Elmo, Scooby-Doo, Popeye, Big Bird, The Cat in the Hat, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Mr. Potato Head, Garfield and Fred Flintstone.
The Parade is accessible by car, bus, and train. Free parking is available at several designated lots throughout downtown. The parade concludes just a few short blocks from the Stamford Metro-North Railroad Station providing frequent service from points north and south. Come early for the best viewing seats, and while you’re in Stamford Downtown visit one of 60 fabulous restaurants.
