The Connecticut Raincheck law says that when a retailer advertises an item at a “sale” price, it is required to maintain enough stock to meet reasonably anticipated demand. If the item is not available for purchase for the duration of the advertised sale period, the retailer is required to offer the consumer a “raincheck” with certain exceptions. “I want to remind consumers that stores advertising items on sale should have sufficient inventory or provide a raincheck to customers when the product is not available. We often hear from consumers who went to stores on the first day of a sale only to find that the item is ‘sold out’. Please call the Department of Consumer Protection at 800-842-2649 if you have any questions about rainchecks or any other advertising questions” said Commissioner Farrell. © Copyright by StamfordPlus.com.
