STAMFORD, CT - Stamford Mayor David Martin and Economic Development Director Thomas Madden on Tuesday announced the launch of a city-wide digital community calendar. The calendar is one of the first major initiatives taken on by the newly-established Arts & Culture Commission, and has been worked on in conjunction with Burbio.com. Burbio.com is a free web service and iPhone app that will hold all local non-profit, government, and school event calendar information.

“I have been hearing from local organizations that there is a need to have a more coordinated calendar to help with event planning and event promotion,” said Mayor Martin. “We have so many great events going on in Stamford every night! It will be useful to have all of that information in one central, online location, moving Stamford more into the digital age. Thank you to the Arts & Culture Commission, Thomas and Burbio.com for getting this done and ready for people to utilize so quickly.”

The Arts & Culture Commission streamlined the process for local non-profits and arts organizations to get their information on the Burbio website.

“I am excited about the strategic partnership with Burbio on our community calendar. This is a fantastic opportunity to organize all of the events in our city, and reach out to new residents and our existing neighborhoods to showcase events within the city,” added Madden.

Burbio.com’s free service allows users to create a personal event feed by following Stamford groups of interest, add events to their digital calendar, and be notified when events change. In addition to the web and iPhone service, all events on Burbio are on Amazon Alexa, and built for discovery in Google search so that events can be discovered by anyone in the region.

“Burbio’s mission is to build community and civic engagement through technology and easy access to event information,” said Julie Roche, Burbio co-founder. “The variety of ways consumers can access the platform – mobile, Voice, search – makes it accessible for Millenials, parents and long-time residents alike and is perfect for a vibrant regional hub like Stamford.”

The link will be placed on the City’s website in the coming days, but can also be found here: https://www.burbio.com/welcome?zip=06901
