On July 19, 2013 the Stamford Social Security office located at Two Landmark Square in Stamford will suspend walk in service to the public.

Social Security will suspend walk in service to the public for approximately two months to complete office repairs. Employees who work out of the Stamford office will work in neighboring Social Security field offices located in New Haven, Danbury, and Bridgeport to process the Stamford casework. Members of the public can access the agency website for contact information on these offices.

Residents who wish to conduct business with SSA will have several options available to them. These Include:

Accessing the agency’s newly redesigned website at: www.socialsecurity.gov,
Using the national, toll-free telephone number, 1-800-772-1213, or
Visiting or calling other offices in the state of Connecticut.

Among the many services and information available online at www.socialsecurity.gov are:
filing for retirement, disability and/or spouse’s benefits;
checking the status of a benefit application;
changing an address and/or phone number, if you receive monthly benefits;
signing up for direct deposit of Social Security benefits;
using the agency benefit planners to help better understand Social Security protection in planning one’s financial future…and then using convenient benefit calculators to figure monthly benefit amounts;
requesting a replacement Medicare card.

Social Security’s toll-free telephone number, 1-800-772-1213, operates from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. People who are deaf or hard of hearing may call the agency’s toll-free TTY number, 1-800-325-0778, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday. Individuals who call the national 800 number can speak to a representative or use the automated telephone services to conduct important Social Security business over the phone.
