Hartford, CT - Snow may have covered the ground in Connecticut this week, but the first signs of springtime could be found that the Department of Revenue Services (DRS) offices as employees raising money for the American Cancer Society distributed daffodils to co-workers.

“The annual arrival of the daffodils comes just in time to DRS,” said Commissioner Kevin B. Sullivan. “Not only do they raise spirits by providing a glimpse of the glorious spring to come, but knowing that our employees raised $2,000 for the Cancer Society is truly heartwarming.”

DRS employees began taking orders for the flowers in January. Buyers had the option of purchasing cut daffodils, potted daffodils, daffodil teddy bears, or donating the items to area cancer patients. A total of $2,025 was collected and sent to the Cancer Society.

Commissioner Sullivan said, “The commitment DRS employees have for charities like the Cancer Society is inspiring.”
