STAMFORD, CT - Building One Community - The Center for Immigrant Opportunity - has been presented a grant of $22,000 from The Community Fund of Darien. This grant supports the enhancement of B1C’s job preparation programs, which teach the skills needed by the low-income immigrants to earn a living wage and support themselves and their families.

“The Community Fund of Darien is proud to continue its partnership with Building One Community. Their mission aligns with our own goals, providing opportunities for our neighbors who struggle to pay for everyday needs like food, housing and other bills," said Carrie Bernier, Community Fund of Darien Executive Director. We are excited to work with this passionate organization devoted to improving the lives of immigrants and, ultimately, the entire community.”

Funding will help further develop Building One Community's English as a Second Language programming, Skills Development Program and Hiring Site. These services supported by the Community Fund of Darien will empower clients to thrive in the American workforce and pave their own paths to active community involvement.

“We are very grateful for the Community Fund of Darien’s continued funding," said Catalina Horak, Executive Director of Building One Community. "It enables our students to achieve financial stability and is an affirmation of support for the benefits experienced by all when we truly work to build one community. This grant ensures that our clients will receive the job skills training they need to successfully integrate into Fairfield County’s labor force.”
