Bridgeport, CT - On Wednesday, October 26, The Watermark at 3030 Park’s Vitality Fitness Center will host “Get Pinked!”, a breast cancer awareness fundraiser for SWIM Across the Sound, a charitable, grassroots organization run by St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation. Members of Watermark’s fitness center, as well as residents, associates and guests of the community are encouraged to wear pink and participate in a number of fundraising activities scheduled throughout the day to support the SWIM.

Since 1987, the SWIM has been providing cancer education, screening, and prevention programs at low- or no-cost for the underinsured and uninsured. The SWIM helps individual cancer patients with specific needs, such as the funding of wigs and prostheses, medication assistance, free transportation to treatments and appointments, day-care scholarships and support groups.

“We have collaborated with St. Vincent’s on a number of programs in the past, such as our restorative yoga classes for cancer survivors,” said Cynthia McGuire, Fitness Director at The Watermark at 3030 Park. “When our community was seeking ways to get involved and help out during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we all agreed that St. Vincent’s SWIM was the perfect fit. It’s a wonderful initiative that we are excited to support.”

Guests are invited to sign-up to walk on a treadmill, walk or swim laps in the heated indoor pool at Vitality Fitness Center, any time during the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pledges can be for any dollar amount. In addition, guests can pledge to participate in a fitness class, including Fun Aerobics at 9:30 a.m., Splash Fitness at 10:30 a.m., Stretch and Balance at 12:00 p.m., Zumba Gold at 1:30 p.m., Aqua Zumba at 2:00 p.m., and Zumba at 5:30 p.m.

“We value our partnerships with community minded organizations such as The Watermark at 3030 Park. Their sense of community involvement allows the SWIM to provide services to those in need in our area,” said Ronald Bianchi, President of the St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation.

Guests can also purchase a pink flower in memory or honor of a loved one for a donation of $1.00, or “pink” an associate’s office at The Watermark at 3030 Park with pink flamingos for a donation of $5.00. Baked goods will also be available for purchase, with all profits donated to the SWIM.

The Watermark at 3030 Park’s in-house salon and spa, Indulge, will also be participating in the fundraiser. Half of all proceeds from “pink” manicures will be donated to the SWIM.

For more information on the fundraiser or to sign-up for any of the programs listed, please call Cynthia McGuire at 203-373-6108.
