New Canaan, CT - Waveny LifeCare Network has welcomed three key staff members to its management team since the New Year: Michelle Ernst, Director of Development; Eleanor Ryan, RN, BSN, Director of Resident Care at The Village; and Stella Clarke, Director of Volunteers.

Michelle Ernst, who has joined Waveny as Director of Development, is a New Canaan resident with a long history of local nonprofit service. With previous roles at the New Canaan Nature Center, and most recently with New Canaan Community Foundation, Ernst brings a personal knowledge and genuine connection with the greater New Canaan community to her position at Waveny. In her new role, she will be directly involved with Waveny’s development operations and annual fundraising efforts.

“I’m so impressed with the incredible generosity of this community,” said Ernst. “I am proud to join the Waveny team in a role that directly impacts those we serve through charitable giving. Donor stewardship enables Waveny to do incredible things, and provide a visible level of excellence in community-based care.”

An English native who has also lived in Singapore, Stella Clarke moved to the United States in 2005 – and along with her family, became a U.S. citizen in 2016. Prior to joining Waveny as Director of Volunteers, Clarke served as Mission Director for Noroton Presbyterian Church of Darien. In 2009, she led the volunteer team that brought the first Feed My Starving Children MobilePack to the East Coast, and mobilized 1000 Darien-based volunteers to pack 200,000 meals during the weekend event.

“I have been amazed by the range of talents that Waveny’s volunteers share with our residents,” said Clarke. “The warmth and enthusiasm of everyone I meet is inspiring, as is the level of commitment of our faithful volunteers, who have invested years of love and care into our organization. Waveny truly is a special place to live, work and volunteer.”

Nightingale Nursing Award recipient, Eleanor Ryan, RN, BSN, has been named Director of Resident Care at The Village, Waveny’s award-winning assisted living community dedicated to memory care for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. In her new role, she will be responsible for leading Waveny’s assisted living nursing team and managing day-to-day operations.

Most recently, Ryan served as a Case Manager at Greenwich Hospital, where she managed the care needs of all patients on a medical floor, while working alongside physicians, families, caregivers and other healthcare providers. Previously, she held management positions with Constellation Home Care, Atria and Stamford Hospital, where she co-founded and co-chaired the Stamford Community Care Team, a task force dedicated to managing complex outpatient clients living within the community.

“While I have served seniors in many nursing capacities and settings, my favorite area of nursing has always been assisted living,” said Ryan. “I love focusing on the personal touch involved with our care, and the socially rich lifestyle we provide at The Village.”

Waveny LifeCare Network provides a comprehensive continuum of healthcare to serve the changing needs of older adults from all areas. Waveny is a non-profit organization that offers independent living at The Inn, assisted living and short-term respite care for people with memory impairment at The Village, and skilled nursing, inpatient and outpatient Rehabilitation Services at Waveny Care Center. It also includes the Brown Geriatric Evaluation Clinic, an Adult Day Program that provides free door-to-door transportation throughout most of lower Fairfield County, and an array of community-based services through Waveny Home Healthcare, Waveny at Home and Geriatric Care Management.
