HARTFORD, CT - Valentine’s Day may be the one day to express our devotion to those who mean the most to us, but a couple’s love endures all year long. That’s why New Country Motor Car Group Dealerships in Hartford offered Connecticut residents the chance to give his or her sweetheart a romantic gift to be presented on Valentine’s Day. Entrants simply described in 300 words or less why their beloved deserved to step out in style for a decadent night on the town. Of the hundreds of nominations that were received, Holly DeFloria’s tribute to her husband was awarded the grand prize.

“My husband Ken is a true humanitarian to both people and animals alike, whether it’s taking in stray animals to helping someone broken down on the side of the road, he’s always putting others first,” said DeFloria. “I have never met anyone like him. He inspires me everyday to be a better person- it's like he wears this invisible hero cape.”

Holly and Ken met by chance when Holly’s car needed to be serviced. Her co-workers recommended the garage across the street, which was owned by Ken, who is a mechanic. While he fixed her car, she stole his heart. When Holly turned down his initial offer of a date in exchange for the car repair, she finally relented after three persistent months of Ken’s pursuit. The rest was history as the DeFloria’s will soon be celebrating their 2nd anniversary this summer.

“Ken is exactly the type of deserving person we wanted to give a spouse the chance to acknowledge. We wanted to provide a memorable evening that they will never forget beyond Valentine’s Day,” said Tim Parker, General Manager of New Country BMW-MINI.

The DeFlorias of Burlington were chosen by a prestigious panel of romance experts- WTIC-FM Afternoon Host and Newlywed Damon Scott, Fashion Stylist Debbie Wright of Project Closet and Mark Hoch, General Manager of New Country Mercedes-Benz. Their package includes a personal chauffeur in a luxurious new Mercedes or BMW for the entire evening and a candlelit, gourmet Italian meal for two at Treva Restaurant in West Hartford Center.

On Saturday, April 12th, the lucky couple will get primped and polished with a haircut and shave at Kennedy’s All American Barber Club in Blue Back Square for Ken and a glamorous hair styling at Blo Blow Dry Bar in West Hartford for Holly In addition, Holly will feel like a movie star getting fitted by her own personal stylist in a new designer outfit at BodyTalk Boutique in Avon. Ken will also look red-carpet ready after receiving a dashing new outfit from Stackpole, Moore & Tryon in downtown Hartford.

“I’m so grateful that New Country is giving us this wonderful night. My husband is always thinking of others, so I wanted him to know how much I admire and love him, adds DeFloria. “I am truly blessed to share my life with him.”
