The Bluefish took a 4-3 lead into the eighth when Tucker took the mound. An Eric Crozier sacrifice fly with runners on first and third and a Clint Johnston RBI single put an end to the Bluefish lead. Johnston finished the night going three-for-five, driving in two. Bridgeport starter Carlos Castillo and reliever Chad Bentz had kept Southern Maryland's offense quiet for the majority of the game. Castillo went five innings and gave up three runs on six hits while striking out two and walking one. Bentz pitched two innings of one-hit ball in relief. The bottom of the lineup performed well for the Bluefish tonight, with Bobby Darula, Brian Munhall, and Jake Daubert going a combined five-for-11 while driving in two runs and scoring two. Dan Reichert (2-1) picked up the win for the Blue Crabs, going seven innings and allowing ten hits and four runs while walking one and striking out four. Tucker (0-1) is charged with the loss while Derrick DePriest collected his second save in as many games, fifth on the season.
