Stamford, CT - Natalie Grainger, Chelsea Piers Connecticut Racquets Director, won the US Squash National Championships held Sunday at the Squash Club at Chelsea Piers Connecticut in Stamford.

The National Championships started Friday at the Squash Club, a 12-court facility in Chelsea Piers’ new 400,000 sq. ft. outpost in Stamford. During the course of the three-day tournament, more than 240 squash players competed in age group, masters and amateur matches.

Grainger beat out Amanda Sobhy, the defending 2012 US Champion. The match went to five games with Grainger prevailing in the fifth to reclaim the title she has held for five of the last six years.

“It was so exciting to play in the US Nationals in this facility that I have spent the last year designing,” commented Grainger. “I worked hard to reclaim my title while also building what I believe is the best squash facility in the country. Watching this tournament and playing against a tremendous athlete, who has been both my teammate and student, really tied my career together and made this win very special.”

Grainger runs the day-to-day operation of the Squash Club at Chelsea Piers, from hiring top-level squash professionals to developing dynamic squash programming for beginners to advanced players.
