"The National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter is delighted to team up with Glaceau," said Carrie Levitt, development coordinator. "Glaceau products are specially formulated to help people on the go feel better, perform better and live healthier lives through better hydration. The Connecticut Chapter is dedicated to helping people with MS live better lives by funding programs and the search for a cure. It’s a perfect partnership." More than 6,000 Connecticut residents are affected by multiple sclerosis (MS), a potentially debilitating disease affecting the central nervous system. The cause is unknown and, as a result, there is currently no cure for MS. Funds raised through participation in chapter events, such as the Bike MS: bkm/Steelcase Ride — formerly the Down To The Sound Ride — ensure ongoing scientific research to find a cure and provide for the continuation of vital programs and services offered by the chapter to those in Connecticut affected by MS. This year cyclists at the Bike MS: bkm/Steelcase Ride can also choose from two dates to ride for a cure. A second ride will take place Sunday, June 1, at Griffin Center in Windsor, Conn. The chapter hopes to raise $645,000 this year between the two rides. Pre-registration for the ride is preferred. To register online go to www.ctfightsMS.org. On-site registration begins at the following times: 9:30 a.m. for the 62-mile route. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m. 10:30 a.m. for the 30-mile route. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m. 11:30 a.m. for the 12-mile route. Start time is scheduled for 12 p.m. The registration fee is $35, with a $125 fundraising minimum per rider. The ride will take place rain or shine, and includes a finish-line barbecue. Volunteers are needed for set-up, rest stop duties, photography and clean-up.
