BRIDGEPORT, CT - Harbor Yard Sports and Entertainment, LLC announced today that Notre Dame (Fairfield) Catholic High School is hosting three days of exciting high school sports at Webster Bank Arena.
The Lancer’s boys and girls hockey teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday, January 9. The boys face arch-rival Fairfield Prep, the defending state champs, at 7:00 pm. The girls play Lauralton Hall of Milford at 4:45 pm.
A basketball doubleheader against Bunnell High School of Stratford takes place Monday, January 27. The Notre Dame boys team plays the Bulldogs at 7:00 pm while the girls team plays at 5:30 pm.
On Saturday, February 22, the Notre Dame boys hockey team plays Darien High School at 1:00 pm.
Tickets are available for $10 at the Arena’s Click It Or Ticket Box office or $8 through each of the schools.
“Webster Bank Arena is a great venue for these games,” said James Olayos, Director of Athletic Advancement at Notre Dame of Fairfield. “This will be a springboard for more games at the arena.”
Howard Saffan, president of Harbor Yard Sports and Entertainment, which manages Webster Bank Arena, said the games continue the arena’s commitment to high school sports.
“High School sports have a home at Webster Bank Arena and we’re thrilled to host Notre Dame of Fairfield, one of the most respected sports program in the state,” Saffan said.
Notre Dame Athletic Director Rob Bleggi said the Notre Dame boys hockey team expects to put a strong team on the ice this season.
“We’re back to where we need to be,” Bleggi said. “The game against Fairfield Prep will be good preparation for the state tournament.”
Bleggi said basketball fans can expect to see an exciting game against Bunnell and the team’s star forward, 6-foot, 5-inch Issac Vann.
Webster Bank Arena is southern Connecticut’s premier sports and entertainment venue. The Arena is conveniently located off Interstate 95 exit 27 and Route 8 exit 1 at 600 Main Street, Bridgeport. Upcoming events include John Mayer on December 16, UConn men’s basketball on December 28, Disney On Ice January 2-5, UConn women’s basketball on January 11 and Arcade Fire on March 18.
