BRIDGEPORT, CT - Webster Bank Arena will host the Harbor Yard Classic basketball tournament on Friday, January 25th, 2013, sponsored by Webster Bank.

The doubleheader, formerly known as the Bridgeport Classic, will feature Bridgeport’s Central High School and Bassick High School, St. Joseph High School in Trumbull and for the first time, Trumbull High School.

Trumbull and Central will tip off at 7:00 pm, followed by St. Joseph and Bassick at 8:30 pm.

Both games are part of the FCIAC conference schedule.

Tickets for both games are $12 for adults, $10 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available at Webster Bank Arena’s Click It or Ticket Box Office.

St. Joseph holds the #1 FCIAC ranking, with a 8-1 record. The Cadets are #7 in the New Haven Register’s Top 10 state basketball poll. Bassick is 5-1 and ranked #4 in the FCIAC. Central is 6-2, with a #6 FCIAC ranking. Trumbull is 2-6 and ranked #17 in the FCIAC.

“High school sports has found a home at Webster Bank Arena,” said Howard Saffan, president of Harbor Yard Sports and Entertainment, which manages Webster Bank Arena.

The arena hosts the Northeast Christmas Classic basketball tournament and the New Year’s Eve High School Hockey Face Off tournament. Earlier this month, the arena hosted two CIAC basketball games, Harding High School vs. St. Joseph and Fairfield Prep vs. Hamden.

“The Harbor Yard Classic gives today’s student athletes a chance to perform on the grand stage of Webster Bank Arena,” Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch said.
