Webster Bank Arena to host CIAC basketball games

BRIDGEPORT, CT - Harbor Yard Sports and Entertainment announced that Webster Bank Arena will host two regular season CIAC high school basketball games on Friday, January 11, 2013.

Fairfield Prep will face Hamden High School at 7:00 pm. St. Joseph of Trumbull will take on Harding High School in Bridgeport at 9:00 pm.

“High school sports is thriving at Webster Bank Arena. These games, the Northeast Christmas Classic basketball tournament and the New Year’s Eve Hockey Faceoff tournament show our commitment,” said Howard Saffan, president of Harbor Yard Sports and Entertainment, which manages Webster Bank Arena.

Fairfield Prep sits atop the SCC league rankings with a 6-0 record. The Jesuits won the Holiday Classic tournament on Friday, December 28, topping Notre-Dame of Fairfield 80-64. Center Paschal Chuckwu was tournament MVP. The 7-footer had 20 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.

St. Joseph shares the top spot in the FCIAC rankings with Trinity Catholic of Stamford. The Cadets are 2-0. St. Joseph competed in the Northeast Christmas Classic at Webster Bank Arena on December 27-28, beating LaSalle of Staten Island, N.Y. and Monsignor Farrell of New York City.

The Hamden Green Dragons arrive with a 1-4 record. The Harding Presidents are 2-3 and have jumped three spots to 11 in the FCIAC rankings.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and children age 12 and under. Tickets are available at the Webster Bank Arena Click It Or Ticket Box Office on gameday.
