Tommy John's resilient team entered the bottom of the seventh trailing 4-1. Luis Lopez drove in the first run of the inning with a single to left and was on base for the backbreaking blast that gave Bridgeport the edge. Jay Caligiuri's sixth home run of the season sailed high into the net in left field with Lopez and Jesse Hoorelbeke on base to give his team the one-run lead. The long ball marks Caligiuri's third in his last three games. Alex Prieto also homered in the game and finished two-for-four. The 'Stormers pounded out 14 hits but failed to take advantage down the stretch. Lancaster left 11 men on base and also had a runner gunned down at the plate by center fielder Travis Ezi. Four players recorded two hits for the Barnstormers including David Castillo who had a pair of RBI doubles. Lloyd Turner finished the day three-for-five with two doubles and a run. Lancaster starter Jason Scobie pitched well in his six innings of work, stranding nine Bluefish runners and striking out four. He allowed one run on eight hits and two walks. The Barnstormer pen could not keep the lead intact as Sendy Rleal (5-4) gave up the three-run jack to Caligiuri to suffer the loss. Bridgeport reliever Andy Weimer (2-1) earned the win in his two scoreless innings. Bluefish closer Eddy Ramos earned his 14th save of the year with a perfect ninth inning. Bridgeport now heads into an off day before heading out on the road for six games. The Bluefish will begin a three-game set with the Camden Riversharks on Tuesday. Bridgeport will send starter Matt Sweeney (2-6) to the mound as they look for their fifth consecutive victory.
