Although it was the first franchise mark broken, this season’s Bluefish have already tied several marks. Hoorelbeke drove in seven runs on July 18th against the Somerset Patriots, which ties the Bluefish club record set by Jamie Gann in 2004. In that same game centerfielder Travis Ezi recorded six hits, tying him with Bobby Malek’s franchise mark set in 2007. Ryan DiPietro also had a five-inning relief appearance made on July 27th which ties him with Masaru Imazeki (2002) and Steve Smetana (2001) for the team’s record for longest relief outing. The Bluefish have several other franchise records that are in jeopardy this season. Hoorelbeke currently has 25 home runs to push his mark of 33 set last season. Third baseman Luis Lopez has 32 doubles this year, which threatens Oreste Marrero’s record of 34 set in 2001. Mateo has scored 86 runs this season, which will push the previous record of 93 set by Nick Ortiz in 2007. The Bluefish will return home Monday, September 1st when “Labor Day = Family Night” here at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
