The Ducks entered the ninth trailing 6-5. Bluefish closer Eddy Ramos (1-6) walked Carl Everett and gave up a single to Edgardo Alfonzo to put runners at the corner with no outs. Ramos induced a ground ball double play out of Melvin Falu in the next at-bat that scored Everett to tie the game. In the following inning, Navarrete drilled a Ramos offering to center field to score Juan Francia. Charlie Weatherby worked a perfect bottom of the tenth to end the game and earn his ninth save of the season. Bridgeport jumped on the board early with a five-run second inning off Long Island starter Abe Alvarez. The Ducks answered in the fifth with a Kevin Haverbusch three-run bomb to bring his team within one. Luis Rodriguez drove in three runs for Bridgeport on the night. The catcher blasted a two-run single in the second and lofted a sacrifice fly to right in the fifth. Branden Florence scored on both of Rodriguez's swings and finished the night two-for-five with a double. Julio Manon (1-0) worked two innings of scoreless relief to pick up the victory for Long Island. Ramos suffered the loss in his two innings of work. The Bluefish look to bounce back tomorrow night at 7:05 P.M. Lefty Ryan DiPietro (4-6) starts for the Bluefish and opposes Lance Davis (4-4).
