Bridgeport, CT - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the signing of infielder Sean Burroughs. Burroughs returns to the Bluefish for his second season in the Atlantic League and 14th of professional baseball.
“Sean is a great veteran presence to have on our ballclub,” says Bluefish manager Ricky VanAsselberg. “He’s a professional hitter that brings many intangibles to the clubhouse.”
Last year, the former Major Leaguer batted .344 over 73 games with the ‘Fish, collecting 16 doubles with 25 RBI and posting an .830 OPS.
The 34-year-old has played seven years in the big leagues, appearing with the San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Arizona Diamondbacks and Minnesota Twins. Over the course of 628 minor league contests, the veteran has comprised a .308 batting average with 293 runs scored, 24 home runs and 281 RBI.
