Connecticut is a fortunate state to have many talented public servants. But this year there is one particular candidate – Dan Malloy – who stands out for his depth of experience, strategic vision, and leadership qualities. On November 2nd I hope voters will elect Dan Malloy to be our next governor and move Connecticut forward in a new direction.
I met Dan Malloy 10 years ago when as mayor he was speaking before the Stamford Board of Representatives. I had just moved to Stamford and was very impressed by his plans for the city and the passion with which he made his case for how to make positive changes in the community.
Under Dan’s vision and leadership Stamford is a city that has prospered while many other Connecticut towns have faced decline or economic stagnation. As a leader Dan has taken the initiative when necessary, such as bringing in universal pre-K, and has mobilized support for attracting large corporations such as UBS and RBS which brought new jobs into the city. Dan knows how to gather together differing sides to find common ground to move projects ahead. Throughout his tenure, Dan also made sure that he heard first hand the needs of the city’s residents whether through his Neighborhood Walks or his regular Meet the Mayor Nights. Dan created the conditions within Stamford to make it a successful environment for its residents to prosper.
When Dan promotes his ideas for the State of Connecticut he speaks with personal conviction. Unlike his opponent, Dan would never switch which office he was running for to improve his odds of getting elected. What he has accomplished for the City of Stamford he now wants to do for the State of Connecticut. Dan will target the strengths of our state and promote them; he will tackle the challenges and bring more jobs to the state; and Dan will also explore what opportunities Connecticut could have – whether in new green industries, in increased international trade, in renewable energy alternatives, information technology or tourism. He wants Connecticut to be a state of opportunity, not of missed opportunities. That is why on November 2nd I am voting for Dan Malloy for Governor.
