Hamden, CT - Sean O’Hare, owner of Right Strategies, a merger and acquisitions firm, will present the lecture, “What Does it Mean to be an Entrepreneur? Why Risk-Taking and the Law Work Side-By-Side,” at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, in the Faculty Commons of the Quinnipiac University School of Law Center. This event, sponsored by the Federalist Society at the School of Law, is free and open to the public.

O’Hare will explore how entrepreneurship and the law regularly intersect in attempting to create a healthy capitalist environment. He will discuss how the law either inhibits or encourages responsible risk-taking on the part of job creators.

O’Hare also will look at the importance of bankruptcy law and cover various ways to raise capital, including private equity, venture capital, angel investing and initial public offerings. In addition, he will discuss the importance of letters of intent, non-disclosure agreements and other features of the law that are vital to business negotiations.

O’Hare is a seasoned entrepreneur, investment banker and adviser to non-profits. After running a sales and distribution venture in the energy space, O’Hare leveraged his expertise to raise capital towards a strategy to acquire several manufacturers in the lighting fixture manufacturing industry. To date, the enterprise value of these transactions will exceed $40 million, with top-line revenue greater than $75 million.

Entrepreneurship is the only job description O’Hare has ever held. At age 18, he launched his first business, the contracting company SPO Enterprises, for which he received the 2003 East Coast Collegiate Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He also maintains a substantial ownership interest in the franchisee operations of several Firehouse Subs locations in central Virginia.

O’Hare also has branched out into media and the non-profit space, serving as a senior adviser to Good Country Pictures and the Solidarity Foundation, while maintaining investment banking interests in New York City with Wynston Hill Capital. He also has joined the speakers bureau, CMG Booking, where he’s booked to speak regularly on topics including entrepreneurship and leadership.

O’Hare serves on the board of the American Council of Trustees & Alumni (ACTA); Men’s Leadership Forum; Youth Leadership Foundation. In 2007, O’Hare accepted the proposal of U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings to participate in the first-ever Summit for Higher Education and in 2011, he was asked to advise on the Pontifical Council for Social Communication through the Vatican. In 2013, he was part of a U.S. Delegation to Russia to cultivate political and business exchanges among young leaders.

O’Hare graduated magna cum laude from Rider University in 2003, where he played soccer and received the President’s Award. Upon graduation, O’Hare also was selected to deliver the commencement address.
