NORWALK, CT - Turbo-charge your college classes! Norwalk Community College is offering accelerated course options in January 2014. Students can earn up to four credits in just 12 days during the new Winter Session at NCC.
Choose from six academic courses scheduled to meet Jan. 2 -17, on Monday through Friday mornings at the college/ or online.
Registration is underway for both the Winter Session and Spring Semester classes.
“The Winter Session courses will appeal to the student who is home for the holiday break and wants to be able to transfer high-quality and affordable credits back to their home institution, as well as the NCC student who wants to quicken their pace to graduation,” said NCC Provost and Dean of Academic Affairs Pamela Edington, Ed.D.
Dr. Edington notes that after the holiday season is over, many students have several weeks on their own before the spring semester begins in late January. For highly motivated students, January can be an ideal time to do an intensive learning experience without distractions.
Winter Session courses are a great way for students to keep up the momentum toward earning a degree or credential, or satisfy general education requirements. The course offerings are:
Art Appreciation (M-F) 8:30 to 11:55 a.m. (3 credits)
Public Speaking (M-F) 8:30 to 11:55 a.m. (3 credits)
Intro. to Software Applications(M-F) ONLINE 8:30 to 11:55 a.m. (3 credits)
Introductory Algebra (M-F) 8:30 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. (4 credits)
Intermediate Algebra (M-F) 8:30 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. (4 credits)
Acting 1 (M-F) 8:30 to 11:55 a.m. (3 credits)
“Regardless of their motivation, what is critical to success in an accelerated course is focus, dedicated daily work, and a willingness to sacrifice for personal success,” Dr. Edington advises. “If a student has those three characteristics, they should do just fine with a Winter Session course.”
