Stamford, CT - Author/ illustrator David Hyde Costello brings his unique brand of entertainment to Stamford on November 13th at Kaleidoscope, a unique store for children's apparel and gifts.

David shares his new book, Little Pig Joins the Band, with not only a reading, but musical accompaniment on the ukulele and kazumpet (you really have to be there to get it). David, an accomplished artist, also provides individual drawings to the children. This opportunity to meet with an author and get an autographed book is great fun for young children and their families.

Kaleidoscope is at 67 High Ridge Road in Stamford. The event begins at 1:00 PM on November 13, 2011. Perfect timing to find just the right gift for the holidays.

Little Pig Joins the Band is great for story time read aloud and for beginning readers. Publishers Weekly calls this book "fresh and funny." The Horn Book states, "Young readers will likely recognize Little Pig's predicament and give his take-charge solution a big hand."

When Little Pig's family starts a band, there's no place for him. He's too little for the drum, the trumpet, and especially the tuba. But, when his siblings can't get their act together, Little Pig knows just what he can do.

David Hyde Costello is inspired by his four ingenious nephews, all of whom enjoy a good pig story. Though David has never been in a band, he loves to dabble in music with such instruments as the ukulele, mandolin, guitar, kazoo, and more (including the kazumpet, which he created, and really pumps up the crowd). David designs sets for the stage and film and is the author and illustrator of other books for children, such as Here They Come! and I Can Help.
