Stamford, CT - Stamford Public Schools (SPS) released its 2017-2018 Annual Report to the Community, which is now available on the SPS district website and soon will be in mailboxes of homes and businesses across the city. The report is being distributed along with 8,000 copies of Stamford Plus magazine’s summer edition, which features a cover story interview with Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero.

The report provides a look back at the 2017-2018 school year and includes profiles of and insights from administrators, teachers and graduating students, as well as alumni who value their educational roots in SPS.

“This report reflects the district’s initial focus on our strategic plan and the positive results of working together for the good of our students,” said Lucero. “It also offers insight into the opinions of our staff and students, who are instrumental in the success of our schools, as well as those of three successful alumni, who share their experiences as graduates of SPS.”

The 2017-2018 Annual Report to the Community features SPS staff: Davenport Assistant Principal Kathleen Joseph Kelley, a Rippowam High School alumna; Rippowam Middle School Assistant Principal Sidney Watson; 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year Camille Spaulding, Cloonan Middle School Social Studies teacher; and 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year First Finalist Susan Dougherty, Stamford High School Special Education and Science teacher. The report celebrates Academy of Information Technology & Engineering (AITE) Senior TJ Salta (Quinnipiac University Class of 2023), Stamford High School (SHS) Senior Ashton Williams (University of Pittsburgh Class of 2023) and Westhill High School (WHS) Senior Audrey Molina (Vanderbilt University Class of 2023). Many SPS alumni attribute the skills and knowledge gained during time spent in SPS to their current success. This year the report features Chief Justice, Connecticut Supreme Court Richard Robinson (WHS Alumnus), Teach Leader U.S. Army Christopher Martin (AITE Alumnus) and retired City of Stamford Chief of Police Jonathan Fontneau (SHS Alumnus).
