The Fairfield County Bar Association Awarded 14 SPS Students at Law Day Art and Essay Contest

Stamford, CT - Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced that 14 SPS students were recognized for their writing or artistic talents by the Fairfield County Bar Association at its “Law Day” ceremony, which was recently held at the Stamford Superior Court. Thirteen judges, representing the Superior Court of the Judiciary of Stamford and Norwalk, greeted the winning students and more than 50 family and community members.

The elementary and secondary students who entered this year’s Bar Association Law Day Challenge addressed the topic, “Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society.” Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City of Stamford Vicki Cooper kicked off the event with a presentation of Mayor Martin’s Law Day Proclamation. Honorable Stephanie McLaughlin presided over the ceremonies and recognized each of the Stamford students. Winning students:

Lucia Kempton, Scofield Magnet Middle, 1st Place Hybrid

Christina Zinicola, Scofield Magnet Middle, 1st Place Essay

Sophia Chen, Scofield Magnet Middle, 2nd Place Essay
