NEW HAVEN, CT - Today, UIL Holdings Corporation (NYSE:UIL) is proud to announce that it will award three students from the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York, internship and scholarship opportunities with The United Illuminating , electric subsidiary of UIL. The awards will be presented at the University at Buffalo’s Annual UB Engineering Scholarship reception on Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 1881 Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst.

For more than 10 years, UIL has provided internships and scholarships to college and university students interested in pursuing careers within Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields and the utility industry. UIL’s program is designed to attract students with an interest in engineering and prepare them with the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to meet the demands within the utility industry.

“We are always looking for bright students that will learn and excel at our company. Our goal is to attract the next generation of employees and leaders to UIL.” said Ron Robert, manager of organizational talent. “We are very excited about this year’s awardees.”

Scholarship recipients include Anna Racz, a sophomore from Castleton, NY and Brian Dawson, a senior from Poughkeepsie NY both majoring in civil engineering; and Frank Walsh, a junior from Commack, New YY majoring in electrical engineering.

This annual engineering reception has grown over the years and is the university’s premier event where engineering students are recognized for their achievements. Student award winners will be available for interviews and photos.
