DANBURY, CT - The Western Connecticut State University Department of Writing, Linguistics and the Creative Process will present a 10-Minute Play and Webisode Festival featuring readings and viewings of student works from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, in the Student Center Theater on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White Street in Danbury. The event will be free and the public is invited.
Undergraduate and graduate students at Connecticut State Universities are encouraged to submit original work before midnight on Monday, March 25, to festival@wcsu.edu. Plays must run 10 minutes and Web productions must be under seven minutes. Entries will be juried by top theater and media professionals, offering networking opportunities for applicants.
The opportunity to experience a stage reading or viewing of their work, as well as the ability to network with Broadway and media experts, proved enticing enough to yield 50 plays and a dozen webisode entries from students in the Connecticut State University system thus far. Ten entries from each category will be featured as viewings or readings on April 14. Entrants will be invited to have breakfast and engage in a discussion with professionals on “How to Succeed as a Writer” before the festival from 10 a.m. to noon.
For more information, send an email to festival@wcsu.edu. Rules for submission can be viewed at www.wcsu.edu/tenminuteplay.
