Winning team, Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol, with trophy
Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol is now the proud owner of a magnificent trophy, a $500 gift card to Fairway Market and bragging rights as the winning team in the Third Annual Fairway Firefighters Food Face-Off held on Saturday, July 13 2012, in the parking lot of the Stamford store. The team will also receive a Fairway Market shopping night in which a portion of all proceeds will go to the charity of its choice.

Watched and cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd, which got to also enjoy samples of food from the competing teams and from many Fairway Market vendors, Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol competed in a grilling “throw down” against Noroton Heights Fire Department, Westport Fire Department, and Belltown Fire Department, to see whose ribs, burgers and vegetable skewers were best.

According to the judges - Lou Gorfain of CT Bites, TJ Buzzeo of the Stamford Daily Voice, JR Reiss of Streets of Stamford, Dennis Bland, Fairway Market’s meat expert, and Steve Jenkins of Fairway Market, the teams all served up “delicious barbeque”. They based their decision on taste, originality and the use of chorizo- the secret ingredient that had to be incorporated into the burgers and was announced just as the grilling got underway. The other three firehouses each won a $100 gift card to the store.

Fairway has a long-standing commitment to firefighters and continues to support these brave men and women with firehouse shopping discounts and unique community events at each of its 12 locations.
