NEW BRITAIN, CT – Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty (CT-5) released the following statement regarding Monday morning’s announcement that 121,983 Connecticut residents have enrolled in private health insurance or Medicaid through Connecticut’s state health insurance marketplace, Access Health CT.

“Once again, Connecticut is leading the way in expanding access to quality, affordable health care,” Esty said. “Over 120,000 Connecticut residents now have chosen to enroll in Access Health CT, which is a clear indication of the high demand for affordable health insurance for themselves and their families.”

“I applaud the incredible work Access Health CT has done to let Connecticut families and small businesses know about the benefits offered by the Affordable Care Act, and I urge any 5th District constituent who does not have health insurance or is looking for a more affordable option to visit www.accesshealthct.com to shop for plans and get covered.”

Last week, Esty highlighted how the Affordable Care Act helped save Ms. Suzie Clayton, a Canaan resident and breast-cancer survivor, close to $1,500 a month on her health insurance premiums.
