Rock band Diamondback, a staple on the New England music scene for more than 20 years, will headline the 2011 NBC Connecticut MS Motorcycle Ride, presented by Outback Steakhouse on Sunday, July 24. “We are pleased and proud to support the fight against MS,” said Clark Denis, lead singer from Bristol. “Our music is a perfect fit for the biker community. We connect with the crowd and we connect with the cause.”

Established in 1988, Diamondback, a five-piece rock band, is renowned for performing not only covers but also original music in venues statewide and beyond. The band has also performed at motorcycle events in Daytona Beach, Fla., Laconia, N.H., Sturgis, S.D., at the Harley Rendezvous in N.Y., and the Steel Pony Express in New Orleans. Famed guitarist Jimi Bell is from Southbury, bass guitarist Steve Wovkanech is from Hartford, guitarist Paul Lusky is from East Hartland and drummer BJ Zampa lives in Newington.

The band’s CD title track, “Legacy,” was featured in the action pay per view special, “One Wild Ride,” with video footage from one of their many live performances at Laconia’s Bike Week Rally. Diamondback has been featured on radio and television and received sponsorship from Jose Cuervo Tequila and endorsements from Hamer Guitars and Dean Markly guitar strings.

“We are incredibly excited to have a band of Diamondback’s stature performing,” said Karen Butler, vice president of communications with the Connecticut Chapter and captain of the Iron Maidens MS Motorcycle fundraising team. “Diamondback has a long-time affiliation with prestigious motorcycle rides nationwide and we are honored to have this incredible band join us in the fight against MS. Our bikers can’t wait to snake, rattle, and roll with Diamondback after the ride.”

Diamondback covers material from artists such as Aerosmith, AC/DC, Black Crowes, Guns ‘n Roses, Motley Crue, Van Halen, and Ozzy Osbourne. The band is also known for their award winning original music featured on their self-produced CD’s “Diamondback” and “Legacy.”

The 11th Annual MS Motorcycle Ride will start and finish at Outback Steakhouse in Southington. The ride traverses a 50-mile route across Connecticut’s breathtaking countryside and over its quaint back roads. Highlights include a down home barbeque by Outback Steakhouse, live music by Diamondback, vendors, drawings for prizes and much more.

Pre-registration is $30 per biker and $20 per passenger. Registration fees include the finish line cookout by Outback Steakhouse. There is a $10 fee per person for those who do not wish to ride but want to take part in the finish line festivities to include the cookout. Event day registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The ride kick starts from Outback Steakhouse at 11 a.m. sharp. Outback Steakhouse is located at 817 Queen St., in Southington. Other community partners include Connecticut Cruise News, Haymond Law, Hot Leathers and Country 92.5 FM.
