New Milford, CT - John M. Murphy, MD, President and CEO of the Western Connecticut Health Network is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Thomas Koobatian as the new Executive Director and Chief of Staff for New Milford Hospital. Dr. Koobatian has been at New Milford Hospital for 17 years and worked closely with the former Executive Director, Deborah Weymouth. Dr. Koobatian will take on the oversight of day-to-day clinical operations, while retaining his responsibility for the Emergency Department and oversight of the New Milford Hospital Medical Staff.
Murphy shared, “Tom Koobatian has been a dedicated physician leader for New Milford Hospital for many years. His commitment to providing high-quality medical care is unmatched and his skill as a physician is well-known to his patients and the greater New Milford region. There is no doubt that Tom will continue to serve this community well in his new position.”

About Thomas Koobatian, M.D.
Thomas Koobatian, MD received his medical degree from University of Vermont College of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 23 years. Dr. Koobatian completed his Residency in Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He also received a Bachelor of Science degree and Master’s degree in Public Health at Tuft’s University. He serves on numerous Hospital committees including the Medical Executive Committee, the WCHN Quality Committee, Infection Control Committee and EMS Leadership.
He and his family are local residents and when not practicing medicine, he is an avid runner.
Dr. Koobatian replaces Deborah Weymouth, who has moved on to a position at a multi-hospital healthcare provider in Massachusetts.
