Hartford Business Journal recognizes health care heroes

Hartford, CT - The Hartford Business Journal this morning recognized exceptional leaders in the health care industry at its annual Health Care Heroes awards luncheon.

“We are thrilled to acknowledge the achievements of such highly regarded health care professionals,” said Gail Lebert, publisher, Hartford Business Journal. “Whether they are doctors, nurses, specialists or managers, each of these individuals embody the word ‘hero’ and have proved their excellence in helping both their patients and the community.”

Among the Health Care Heroes honorees are:

Corporate Achievement – Innovation (TIE): Deb Gundersen, nurse, NAFI CT, Touchstone Program; Ida Schnipper, managing partner, Health Champion

Advancement in Healthcare – Innovation: Marc Lalande, Ph.D., Chairman, Department of Genetics and Developmental Biology, UConn Health Center

Advancements in Healthcare – Prevention: Qualidigm

Community Service - Advocacy/Policy: Jay Sicklick, Director, Medical-Legal Partnership, Center for Children's Advocacy

Physician: Dr. Lenworth Jacobs, Chief of Trauma and Emergency Medicine, Hartford Hospital

Nurse: Deborah Poerio, President and CEO, Integrated Health Services, Inc.

Healthcare Staff: David Rosinski, Director of Cardiovascular Perfusion, UConn Health Center

Volunteer: David Dyson, volunteer-event manager, Tabor House

The luncheon’s keynote address, ‘Improving Health Equity,’ was given by Patricia Baker, President & CEO of the Connecticut Health Foundation.
