James M. McClane, MD, joins Norwalk Hospital Physicians & Surgeons

James M. McClane, MD, a board-certified colorectal surgeon, has joined Norwalk Hospital Physicians & Surgeons, Norwalk Hospital’s employed physician practice, and opened a new practice, Colon and Rectal Surgical Care of Connecticut, in Norwalk, CT.

Dr. McClane specializes in the surgical treatment of colon and rectal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis and other diseases/conditions of the lower intestinal tract. Before joining NHP&S, Dr. McClane was in practice with Colon and Rectal Surgeons of Southern Connecticut.

Dr. McClane completed his medical degree at Cornell University Medical College. He completed his residency and internship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and a fellowship in colorectal surgery at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland Ohio.

Dr. McClane was the 2008 recipient of the prestigious Dr. Melville Magida Award of the Fairfield County Medical Association and The Richard and Hinda Rosenthal Foundation, an award given annually to a young skillful physician in Fairfield County who provides excellent patient care.

Dr. McClane is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi, a national engineering honor society and is also a Duke University J.A. Jones Memorial Scholar. He has received numerous awards for his accomplishments scholastically and in research and has published articles in prestigious medical journals.
