Hartford, CT - Mario W. Katigbak, M.D., has joined Hartford Hospital as a member of the section of thoracic surgery.
Dr. Katigbak is a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, where he was an Oblation Scholar and finished with distinction. He did his internship in general surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and completed his residency at the Maimonides Medical Center in NY, where he also served as chief resident. He continued his fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery at the Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Dr. Katigbak is board-certified in thoracic surgery. He joins us from the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven where he was the Director of Thoracic Oncology and the Residency Research Coordinator.
Dr. Katigbak’s has particular interest and expertise in minimally-invasive surgery for malignant and benign diseases. This includes video assisted thoracic surgery and robotic lobectomies, minimally-invasive esophagectomies, and laparoscopic foregut surgery, including repair of hiatal hernias and anti-reflux procedures. He also offers advanced endoscopic and bronchoscopic therapies for a variety of conditions.
Dr. Katigbak practices with Robert Lowe, MD, and Juan Escalon, MD, with Hartford HealthCare Medical Group and will see patients in Hartford and Glastonbury.
