Norwalk, CT - An opportunity to become acquainted with Norwalk Hospital caregivers in a friendly, informal setting will take place at the WEBE-108/Norwalk Hospital Kids Fest on Sunday, March 25th. The twenty first annual Kids Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wilton High School Field House.

The Kids Fest is an exposition designed for young families with entertainment, education and businesses catering to parents and children. Norwalk Hospital, the co-sponsor of the event, will conduct blood pressure screenings, weights/heights, “Ask the Doctor,” and other surprises within its 16 X 20 foot booth, a replica of the hospital itself.

Physicians and hospital staff will be present to talk with the children and their parents and help familiarize youngsters with what to expect at a hospital.

Norwalk Hospital Registered Dietitians will discuss healthy eating for children and will also answer the frequent questions they receive from the parents. Nurses from the hospital’s Childbirth Center will assist with blood pressure screenings and provide information about health education programs available to children, adolescents and their parents. Norwalk Hospital's pediatricians, obstetricians and midwives, as well as other members of the Medical Staff, will be on hand to answer questions from children and their parents. Norwalk Hospital physician assistants will teach children about their bones, while providing helpful information to parents about preventing osteoporosis.

The paramedics and EMTs will provide information on the Heimlich Maneuver, phoning 911 in an emergency, and preventing traumatic brain injury in children.

In addition, informational literature and giveaways will be distributed to children who visit the Norwalk Hospital booth.

Dr. Thomas Ayoub of New Canaan, chief of the hospital’s Medical Staff, and an obstetrician and gynecologist, said that he looks forward to participating in this event each year.

The Kids Fest will feature entertainment and throughout the day a number of cartoon-type characters will mix with the crowd. In addition to Norwalk Hospital, businesses and services catering to young families will be present with information and giveaways. For more information about the hospital's booth at the Kids Fest, call the Norwalk Hospital Community Relations Department at 203-852-2250.
