Michael R. Marks, M.D., MBA
" Q&A: Your Orthopaedic Health " is the first topic this year in the Waveny Care Center and Norwalk Hospital lecture series to be presented at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan on Thursday, October 25, at 4 p.m.

Michael R. Marks, M.D., MBA, of Westport, formerly of Weston, spokesperson, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Vice President of Business Development for Norwalk Hospital, is the featured speaker. Dr. Marks is also President of Norwalk Hospital Physicians and Surgeons.

During his presentation at Waveny Care Center, Dr. Marks will provide an overview on orthopaedic health and answer the most frequently asked questions received by orthopaedic surgeons. He will also answer questions from the audience.

About the Speaker
Prior to becoming Vice President of Business Development at Norwalk Hospital and president of Norwalk Hospital Physicians and Surgeons, Dr Marks served as Chief of the Norwalk Hospital Medical Staff. He was previously a successful practicing orthopaedic surgeon since 1988, first with Barton, Markey and Brody and with its subsequent organization Coastal Orthopaedics since 2002.

Named to “Connecticut’s Top Docs – Surgeons,” Dr. Marks was also selected to be a member of Strathmore's Who's Who in the Healthcare Industry, which includes the highest achievers from throughout the country and across the world and recognizes them for notable success in their respective fields. He was named to "America's Top Physicians" by Consumers' Research Council of America, a Washington, D.C.- based research organization. He is a past president of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society and a two-time winner of the Frank J. Scanlon Award for Surgical Innovation.

A graduate of Union College and the George Washington University School of Medicine, he completed his General Surgery internship and Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the George Washington University Medical Center. Dr. Marks completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and received his MBA from the University of Tennessee.
