The Stamford Jewish Community Center in partnership with Stamford Hospital, First County Bank and the City of Stamford will host a half-day, senior health and wellness fair on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The free event is called Age Well, Live Well! and is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This is the 41st year for the event that focuses on seniors offering health screenings, fitness classes, food demonstrations, panel discussions and presentations. Stamford Hospital will conduct free health screenings, including non-fasting glucose and cholesterol, blood pressure, cardiac risk, pulmonary and skin analysis. Flu shots will be available for $30 or free with a Medicare card.

Paul Bubniak and Ken Griffin, vice presidents at First County Advisors, the trust and investments division of First County Bank, will host a 10:30 a.m. presentation on estate planning, federal and local estate taxes and how to use trusts for different purposes.

There will be low-impact fitness demonstrations, chair massages and door prizes. The event, which attracted 300 participants last year, is being held at the Stamford JCC, located at 1035 Newfield Ave. in Stamford.

“This is a terrific event for seniors in the area to better their lives,” said Katherine Harris, president of First County Bank. “And as part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, First County Bank will host a financial wellness seminar that all seniors should attend.

“First County Bank would like to thank the Stamford JCC, Stamford Hospital and the City of Stamford’s Department of Health Public for organizing this important event for seniors,” concluded Harris. Registration is not required and admission is free of charge. Light refreshments will be served and valet parking will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
